| Ski Snowstar to Host Beach Party at the Slopes
Unusual winter or not, Snowstar Winter Sports Park is thumbing its nose at Mother Nature and hosting their second Snowbound Beach Party Weekend on February 10th and 11th. Andalusia, IL (PRWEB) February 9, 2007 -- Unusual winter or not, Snowstar Winter Sports Park is thumbing its nose at Mother Nature and hosting their second Snowbound Beach Party Weekend on February 10th and 11th. From a Pork Chop BBQ next to the slopes to a Rail Jam and Downhill Ski Races, there really is something for everyone. Events are open to the public and the slopes will continue to operate for regular skiing, snowboarding, and tubing throughout the weekend.
According to Ed Meyer, General Manager, "We expect it to be one of our most popular weekends this winter. Our goal is to both encourage new people to come and try the sport while also reminding everyone that there's still plenty of winter and snow left for a good time."
On Saturday, February 10th, Snowstar will kick off the weekend by offering an "Extended Play Pass Sale" that would enable guests to use it for the rest of this season and next season at last year's prices.
Almeria students win prizes during major competition
Students from Almeria Middle School earned prizes for their participation in the 2007 Southern California Regional Future City Competition on Jan. 27.Almeria was one of five regional teams that competed at the California Science Center in downtown Los Angeles to present projects promoting efficient energy use, alternative fuels, and air and water conservation.Under the guidance of their science teacher, Idam Chuku, the Almeria team presented four projects:-- An amphibious car that is powered by solar energy and batteries;-- A fuel-cell car that is powered by solar energy and fuel, a type of battery;-- A power house that has renewable energy that is stored inside by a variety of sources; .
